Here’s something we’re all going to face in the VERY near Future?

Don W asked:

It is becoming increasingly clear that one of the things facing us from the Insurance companies will be to charge us according to out lifestyles. Smokers, drinkers, overeaters, undereaters, underexercisers, overexercisers, workaholics, gamblers, those who drive too fast, those who drive too slow, etc. etc.
What these people are saying is that if you do anything extreme and become a medical risk whether mentally or physically it’s going to affect your premium. It will start with the smokers, then the drinkers, then it will continue to snowball.
My question is… How many of us fit the perfect citizen criteria? Already we, or at least I, can’t get insurance because of pre- existing conditions. Are those of us who don’t measure up to the expectations of a board of inquiry going to be left out? Are we any less human than others who are more fortunate or may have made all the right decisions and were afforded the wonderful opportunities to make mental and physical healthy choices in life
mark…I saw on the news where United has just started it.
will i am…This is what i’m talking about and like I mentioned to “mark” this was on the morning news today and United insurance was the company that was being interviewed.
stay fan1… This is also directed toward anyone whether it is their choice or not. I’ll bet you’re not perfect in some way either. I wouldn’t deny you medical assistance if you needed it regardless of who you are or where you’ve been.

i have started a new lifestyle a little more than a month ago and lost 10 pounds. is that good so far? im 14, 5′1 and 151 pounds, ( i know im fat) and i check my weight every tuesday(today) and i only lost half a pound. i will admit i cheated a little bit. i ate a small peice of pie becuase it was a relatives b-day so i wanted to celebrate. but i did get exercise. so if i dont cheat as much this week will go back to losing 2 pounds a week like i was before? i have been sort of making healthier choices. i measure out my cereal, add more fruits and veges in daily diet and try to get more exercise. i have been seeing a difference in my stomach and legs. i have actually gone down 3 pant sizes in the months, i used to me a 14 now im 11. should istill be able to lose the weight. i know im asking a lot of questions, sorry. but please answer with what your opinion would be on my questions. and also if anyone has small tips on this lifestyle please share them.

Amelia asked:

My family has terrible eating habits - fast food, frozen dinners, soda, and more garbage. No one in my family is too overweight, but its still not for me. They tell me “its not gonna make you fat in 2 weeks”. My husband, and I lead a healthy active lifestyle at our home, and I can’t stand anymore junk! I am visiting my family for 2 more weeks - I don’t have a car with me so I can’t go out to buy my own stuff. My mother wants to buy dinner FAST FOOD again, and I am getting so stressed by the thought of more junk food. My choices are burger king, wendys, or Arbys..? Is that even a choice? What are some healthy choices I can make that fit in with thier routines?

Any advice I’d really appreciate because I don’t know how not to be rude about their lifestyle, but still eat here.
Person #1 I am not “moaning” I am just trying to get advice with a situation I haven’t had before. Like I said I don’t have access to a car mine is 2000 miles away.

Im 17 years old. 5 feet 7 inches tall. and weigh 215 lbs.
I am sick of myself so ive been trying to change my lifestyle.
I used to drink 5-6 cans of pop a day, now none
I have been trying to drink 7 or 8 glasses of water per day
I havent touched junk food for about a week now.
I have managed to fit 5 small meals into everyday so far

breakfast:
-some toast
-some fruit (trying to have a variety)
-a glass of milk

Snack:
I take a small lunchbox with an apple, orange, kiwi, etc
and/or a serving of almonds and leave it in my locker and eat it between breakfast and lunch

For lunch
-1-2 servings of lettuce with barely any ranch,
-some of the fruit they serve
-some vegetable that they are serving
-the average carton of milk that every school serves
-the healthiest looking food of the three choices we get
afternoon:
-usually a carrot or some celery or broccoli, etc
big glass of water
Dinner:
poultry,pork, or beef
more water
small salad with a little ranch
beans
i have also been trying to exercise for 30 minutes a day.
If anybody has any suggestions for simple exercises i would appreciate it.
my parents do have a pilates machine so i try to use that occasionally
oh yea forgot! forgot to put i am a guy
my parents do have a pilates machine thats hardly been used in the past year……wonder if that would work…
I also am going to try to go for some long walks.
all of the veggies and fruits at home are fresh and i do steam the veggies.

school veggies/fruit are 80% of the time fresh

Does a man have any legal recourse if the mother of his unborn child is doing drugs, drinking, and smoking?

Big Sky 23 asked:

She doesn’t want to have an abortion and plans to keep the baby, but she is knowingly living a very unhealthy lifestyle.

I mean, it’s HER body. But it’s also HIS child, so should it really be HER choice?

What can really be done if the mother decides she wants to abuse her body and that of her unborn child? We can’t very well put her in prison and FORCE her to be healthy, can we?

Kelly asked:

I’m not trying to lose a specific amount of weight, but I want to lose some and just feel better about my body. The problem for me is finding food that is healthy, tasty, and filling as well (I don’t want to binge later on), and just be food that, overall, I can live with as a consistent lifestyle. If anyone knows of any meals or snacks…anything like that, I would grately appreciat it. Thank you!

Myself™ asked:

Well, I’m trying to make a lifestyle choice to stay fit and I’m going school clothes shopping in a week so I need to drop those last 6lbs. I’ve lost 6lbs in 3 weeks already and can see and feel the results but I still need a few pounds. I exersise 4-5 days a week 45-60mins. I eat 1300 calories (Don’t say it’s too little and I need to increase or I’m too young; if you’re not going to answer the question, please don’t answer at all) a day.
Should I change anything or improve?
I am 12 years old and I weigh 90.5lbs (I want to be at the lowest point of a healthy weight) and 4′8ht. (:
Thank you!
Oh yeah. I love that site! I have a sparkteens and it’s really helpful (:

Mosher asked:

I am 20 and I have been living off pop and junk food snacks my whole life (especially when i was a child) I also smoked for 8 years and recently quit, this has caused me alot of problems, especially mental problems. I have severe anxiety, depression and mild psycosis because of 20 years of unhealthy food choices. Ive always been a highly active person and assumed i was healthy because I look the part.My career path requires me to be extremely healthy. I just recently turned vegan and am doing herbal cleanses and was wondering how long until my body resets back to a fully healthy state?

p.s I do plan on living an organic, vegan lifestyle for the rest of my days.
